I asked my Spirit team what I should share in this blog, and they responded right away, "Love." I suppose it is very fitting given that it is Valentine season. They are not talking about romantic love although that is beautiful as well; they are talking about the love we should feel for ourselves. We get so caught up in the busyness and drama in our lives, that we often forget that our souls originate from a place of love, and when we lose sight of that, we block the love that we naturally possess and receive from Source, God, Great Spirt, Universe, Allah, or whatever label that resonates with you. Self-love can be one of the most difficult forms of love to achieve, as many of us are very self-critical or think we are undeserving. Others think it's a form of narcissim which is a trait or personality disorder that is bandied about frequently in today's society. Self-love is ensuring that you take care of yourself, having a high regard for your own well-being, and recognizing that you are part of Source. Everything is part of Source; your beloved pet, the sparrow that sits outside your window, the red cedar whose canopy protects you from the elements, and even the impatient driver who gives you a hand gesture when you're too slow to turn. They all emanate from Source. It is this recognition that elevates your soul and raises your vibration so that you are living on a more conscious loving frequency and are better equipped to deal with the challenges that come with life on this planet.
So, how do we go about finding self-love that our Spirit teams so want us to nurture and embrace? There are multiple ways, but a simple first step is seeing Source/Great Spirit/God in ALL that is. Imagine your world where everything is part of God. The stream, the bumblebee, the mourning dove, the clouds, and even your enemy. They all originate from the same Source you do. You are all a part of God. When you start to see God/Source in all things around you, it's very difficult to hate or judge because you are essentially hating or judging God/Source then. Imagine looking in the mirror, and instead of being judgmental of features you may not like, you instead see God/Source in your own face and body. When you can find God within yourself, self-love comes more easily, and when we love ourselves, it's much easier to love all those around us. Try it; the world would be a much better place if you practice self-love. We would all benefit. Try saying this mantra to yourself several times a day and notice the changes that start to occur: "I love myself. I am a beautiful soul with a brilliant spirit. I love all that is."
