I watched a National Film Board (NFB) documentary yesterday, "History of Manawan Part 1 and 2"where Elder, Cézar Néwashish, discussed the history of Atikamekw community of Manawan, Quebec. He shared how relatives, who were apart by great distances, used to communicate. He said, "...they would concentrate and they would be able to see their parents just as if it was a mirror. They were able to talk to each other even if they were separated."

This is amazing and a wonderful testament to the skills possessed by traditional Indigenous peoples before their culture was violently disrupted.

What do you think enabled them to be able to communicate in such a way? Was it their closeness to the land or spirit, or the time spent in solitude while traversing the land, or the ceremonies they may have practiced, or a combination of all these factors?

Countless extraterrestrial experiencers disclose that communication with these entities is not in the form of speaking. It is all through thought just as Cézar Néwashish described his ancestors communicated when apart.

We have all had experiences where we claimed to be able to read the mind of a loved one with whom we are particularly close. Is this telepathy or just knowing someone so well? Perhaps it's a little of both. Certainly, I can recall times where I briefly heard the thoughts of another, even strangers, with whom I am in contact. It was only momentarily, but it came through loud and clear.

Communicating in this way is not just with other humans. There are countless accounts of people communicating with other beings from pets, to rocks, to trees. Scholar, Priscilla Stuckey, who wrote, "Being Known by a Birch Tree," recounts how a beloved birch tree she had grown up with made contact with her telepathically decades later to inform her of its upcoming death. Although Stuckey did not describe it as telepathic communication, she was clear that the tree had reached out to her just prior to her brother calling to inform her that the birch tree on the family property was going to have to be cut down.

I have had many trees in my life that I adore. One such tree is a beautiful sycamore. It is breathtakingly beautiful to me and so grand in its stature. I visit it frequently, and each time I do, I rest my hands upon its gnarled bark and send it loving thoughts. On one such occasion, I apologized for having taken so long between visits. I then stood in silence with my eyes closes and my hands on her outer bark. To my utter surprise, she responded back. I heard her clearly say, "I understand. I missed you." My eyes flew open, and I looked around to see if someone was close. I was alone. It was just me and Grandmother tree. She had spoken, and I had heard. What a gift I was given that day!

If we seek out those moments of quiet, we may just find a whole other world of communication we have not heard before. Are you up for it?
